Internet Gives Options to Women Laid-off or with Out-of-Work Husbands
New Haven, CT – Men make up 82% of the recession’s job losses, which means countless women are out there looking for work to make up for the lost paycheck. The problem is it’s almost impossible to find a job right now, so for many women their only hope is to get a home-based business up and running as quickly as possible. The internet provides these women with endless options and increased flexibility.
Kim DeYoung, an entrepreneur, business coach and the founder of Metromom.com, believes that having a website is now a necessity for every entrepreneur – even the mom working part-time in her basement. She is passionate about providing women with tools and training to make the extra money they desperately need.
DeYoung found herself in the same situation as thousands of other women when her husband was laid-off five months ago. She took a proactive stance and stepped up her commitment to her business and the various internet marketing options available to her.
Kim understands and explains the challenge facing work-at-home moms, “Most women I speak with are overwhelmed with the internet – they’ve heard about great tools like blogs, Twitter, Facebook, podcasts, and YouTube but don’t know where to start. They don’t want to waste time on things that won’t have a direct impact on their bottom line.” Due to the monumentally increased financial pressure on moms, these women need help figuring out how to use the internet to generate an income quickly.
With so many struggling, Kim decided to host a virtual Telesummit to help as many women as possible learn how to use the internet to prosper and profit. DeYoung opted on a Telesummit as the ideal way for women to learn without travel costs and time away from their family. On May 1st and 2nd women worldwide can access trainings from eighteen highly-respected, nationally-recognized online experts who’ve agreed to share their best internet marketing strategies for absolutely no charge.
Women will be able to access free training seminars by calling from their phone or by listening via the Internet. Women interested in learning more about the Metromom Online Success Telesummit should visit www.metromom.com/telesummit.
Find the Right Fit in a Challenging Economy
Panel of Connecticut Women Will Show How to Make Money in Any Economy (this event took place on Feb 1st, 2009)
New Haven, CT – In an increasingly difficult economy, many women are looking for ways to supplement their family income. Kim DeYoung, a business coach and the founder of Metromom.com, is hosting an event to help women determine the best work-at-home option for them personally.
For many women, having a direct sales business – with companies like Mary Kay, Arbonne, Tupperware, Melaleuca, and Pampered Chef – is a great option because they don’t require a lot of start-up money. Depending on their needs and circumstances, women can decide to make a few hundred dollars a month for extra spending money or a more substantial income to support their entire family.
The problem is there are over 30 industries and hundreds of companies represented in direct sales, so how do women go about deciding which one meets their needs and their personality? Where can they learn about their options?
There are also many women who’ve found a direct sales company to work with but they’re not making any money. They can’t seem to get their business off the ground. These women want to move beyond selling products to their sister or close friends and make it a truly profitable business.
Kim DeYoung knows the importance of the right “fit.” She did merchandising and product development for companies like J. Crew, the Gap and Banana Republic. She went on to establish her own line of clothing for Metromom Maternity. Now her focus has shifted to helping women find the right career “fit” when they want to work at home.
The panel Kim has assembled includes six women who’ve found successful careers in a variety of direct sales businesses. This panel will share information about their company, how they work and how to get started and be successful in companies like Arbonne, Send Out Cards, Silpada, Hello World, Nikken and CAbi.
This event will help women who want tried and true ideas on how to run a profitable home-based business in any economy. This event took place on Feb 1st, 2009. To be kept up to date for future events, please visit: http://Metromom.com/Ezine
You’ve Heard of Hockey Moms, Soccer Moms…Now Meet the Metromom
With the country focused on the hard choices that Sarah Palin is making as a mother, women are more uncertain than ever on whether they can have it all. In fact, many women figure it’s impossible to have a truly fulfilling career and enough time to be a hands-on mom. Kim DeYoung says you can do both—if you’re willing to be a Metromom.
So what is a Metromom? She is a highly-motivated mom with an entrepreneurial spirit, looking to be successful in all aspects of life…on her own terms. A driven, evolving woman committed to her family, her career and to managing her own home-based business with class. Kim says that by running your own home-based business you can become the CEO of your own life.
Let’s face it, with the recent trends in the economy—especially at the gas pump—many women need something to provide financial breathing room. A home-based business gives them the ability to meet and establish their own financial goals, whether that’s a few hundred dollars a month or a more substantial income. For example, direct sales—like Avon, Tupperware, Melaleuca etc.—usually require just a small investment to get started. Plus women get tax write-offs from running a home-based business.
An entrepreneurial business allows women to control their careers. Instead of just a job, they enjoy something more meaningful. They can also work around their family’s schedule. As moms they love how having a home-based business lets them balance their career with their personal and family life.
Kim DeYoung is committed to helping entrepreneurial moms be successful. She founded The GET IT DONE Action Club, an interactive online community for “Metromoms” to connect with like-minded women, to promote themselves and to get the right kind of coaching. What’s great is that busy moms can do this without having to step out their front door. Women can explore the website - www.metromom.com and join the free community.
Local “Metromom” Creates a Community for Women in Direct Sales
New Haven, CT – Local entrepreneur, Kim DeYoung, is pleased to announce a whole new way for women in direct sales businesses to connect—The GET IT DONE Action Club. Kim has been inspiring local entrepreneurial women through coaching sessions, group meetings and as the host of the local Ladies that Launch® Incubator Program.
Last year, she decided to expand her horizons and she created www.metromom.com. So what is a Metromom? A driven, evolving woman committed to her family, her career and to managing her own home-based business with class.
Millions of women are showing a whole new entrepreneurial spirit—starting new businesses three times the rate of men. The number one reason women start their own business is for freedom and flexibility. That is why direct sales businesses are so popular—think Mary Kay, Tupperware, Melaleuca, Avon, Send Out Cards, and Pampered Chef, to name a few of the thousands. Then there are women in direct sales who own franchises, are insurance agents, realtors etc.
Kim DeYoung took her own entrepreneurial leap ten years ago following a corporate career in the fashion industry, and she never looked back. Even though she was incredibly successful in her own direct sales business, she discovered that there was a missing link.
The missing link is a venue for Metromoms in direct sales to connect and learn from one another. Kim noticed that what women really craved were colleagues—women who understand their business career, their choices and their challenges. They wanted to learn the latest strategies and wisdom from the most successful women in every field of direct sales.
Kim DeYoung decided to make a difference. She explains, “As a natural connector, my goal was to bring together a nurturing community of women from all over the country. This is the answer to what women in direct sales businesses are craving—community, connection, training, and the ability to promote themselves. I’m so pleased to share that in June 2008 The GET IT DONE Action Club was born.”
Metromoms achieve a much higher level of success as members of a supportive community. Founder, Kim DeYoung says women can explore the new website, www.metromom.com, order a free audio CD, “The 7 Deadly Sins Women in Direct Sales Make…and How to Avoid Them” and sign-up for a trial membership.

Metromom combines the social networking features of popular sites (Facebook, Linked In and Twitter) with expert advice on marketing, mindset and motherhood.
Becoming a new mom motivated Kim DeYoung to take her own entrepreneurial leap ten years ago following a corporate career in the fashion industry. She never looked back. Even though she was incredibly successful in her own home-based business, she discovered that there was a missing link.
The missing link is a venue for motivated mom entrepreneurs to connect and learn from one another. Ms. DeYoung recently made changes to her site to make it even more user-friendly and accessible. According to DeYoung, the following status-quo thinking won’t work in today’s economy:
- Do it All Yourself and Save Lots of Money
- You Must Multi-Task to Get Things Done
- Take Care of Your Family and Business First, Then Take Time for Yourself
- Forget Your True Passion and Focus on Money
There is a better way to be successful and DeYoung happily shares her secrets for success. She invites women to join her and start living the metromom mission: thinking smarter, planning better and living richer.
Introducing the New Get It Done System – Teaching Entrepreneurs “How” Instead of “What”
New Haven, CT – According to Kim DeYoung, a serial entrepreneur and business coach, most entrepreneurs know “what” they should do but are stuck on the “how”. “I talk to so many entrepreneurs that are frustrated – they know they’re leaving money on the table because they just don’t have a system to implement their ideas,” explains DeYoung.
A recent article in Time magazine reports, “At no other time in recent history has it been easier or cheaper to start a new kind of company.” Kim DeYoung agrees with that, however she believes many entrepreneurs are overwhelmed. They have an idea for a business, product or service, however often times creative, visionary-type entrepreneurs just can’t get it done.
After, a high-energy corporate career in the fashion industry Kim DeYoung has been a serial entrepreneur for over ten years. She recently launched a popular website for mom entrepreneurs, metromom.com. As the mom of three young children, DeYoung was forced to create a system that helped her quickly implement her ideas and generate business momentum. She was so successful that she became known as the “Get It Done Girl”.
Kim decided to take a different approach than most business coaches or internet marketing experts. Instead of teaching entrepreneurs WHAT to do she teaches them exactly HOW to do it. She will be teaching her 5-Step Get It Done System at an upcoming 4-week implementation program – The Get It Done Challenge.
Rather than providing entrepreneurs with the steps for each individual project, Kim gives them the system so they can use it repeatedly for any and all future projects. Entrepreneurs will walk away from her program with…
- Clarity around their business vision
- The ability to break down projects into “bite-size” manageable pieces
- The art of resourcefulness and delegation
- A “get it done” mindset so they get out of their own way
- Laser focus as they move towards even bigger goals
Entrepreneurs can learn more about the Get It Done Challenge at www.thegetitdonechallenge.com. Kim also provides an overview of all the steps to the system in a Get It Done 101 free teleclass available at www.metromom.com/gidcall.
